Perdomo cigars

Nick Perdomo Jr. launched Tabacalera Perdomo in 1992 from his garage in Miami, drawing on a family legacy rooted in the Cuban cigar trade — his grandfather Silvio had worked in the upper ranks of the Cuban industry before the revolution, and his father Nick Sr. rebuilt a new life in the United States. By 1997, demand pushed production north: Nick Sr. came out of retirement to help open a purpose-built factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, anchoring the brand's identity in the volcanic soils of the country's premier tobacco-growing corridor.

What distinguishes Perdomo from most premium manufacturers is the depth of its vertical integration. The company farms its own tobacco in Estelí, Condega, and the renowned Jalapa valley, ferments and ages its leaf in-house, manufactures at its Nicaraguan facility, and distributes from Miami — controlling nearly every link in the chain. That self-sufficiency drives unusually tight consistency across its lines and gives Perdomo latitude to release age-verified blends on its own schedule.

The Lines

The 10th Anniversary series, blended from decade-aged Nicaraguan leaf, put the brand on the national map and remains a flagship. Lot 23 is more singular still: it uses tobacco grown exclusively on a specific farm plot that Nick Sr. pioneered in 2000, making each release traceable to a single parcel of Estelí earth. The Habano Bourbon Barrel-Aged line — sun-grown Nicaraguan habano leaf conditioned in bourbon barrels — reflects the brand's appetite for process-driven innovation. Across all three, the house style runs medium-full to full in body, with the kind of layered earthiness and sweetness that Nicaraguan puro enthusiasts seek out.

Perdomo was inducted into the Cigar Hall of Fame and has appeared consistently in trade-press top-25 lists, but the brand's standing owes as much to its farming depth as to any single accolade.
