Jon Huber and Mike Conder launched Crowned Heads in 2011 after careers at CAO Cigars, bringing an instinct for branding and narrative that set the company apart from the start. Based in Nashville, the duo built the brand on the idea that a cigar should tell a story — every line they release carries a name, concept, and backstory that rewards the curious smoker.
The Four Kicks, named after a Kings of Leon song, was the inaugural release and remains the backbone of the portfolio. Made at the My Father Cigars factory in Estelí, Nicaragua under the García family's supervision, it delivers a medium-to-full Nicaraguan puro character that appeals broadly without sacrificing complexity. Le Carème, by contrast, is produced at Tabacalera La Alianza in the Dominican Republic — blended by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo — and leans toward a creamier, more restrained Dominican profile. Having two elite production partners gives Crowned Heads unusual stylistic range.
Las Calaveras
Launched in 2014, Las Calaveras is the brand's highest-profile annual limited edition. Released each autumn and inspired by Día de los Muertos, each vintage honors individuals from the cigar world who passed that year. The release vitola changes annually, and the series has become one of the most anticipated limited drops in boutique cigars. Headley Grange, named for the English country house where Led Zeppelin recorded, rounds out the core portfolio with a dark, full-bodied Nicaraguan profile.
Crowned Heads remains independently owned and deliberately small-batch, distributing through a selective network of specialty retailers.
