Flavor profile

Sweet · Roast · Spice · Earthy

Mule Kick is the limited-edition cousin of Four Kicks and the oldest annual release in the Crowned Heads catalog, dating back to 2012. Each year's edition changes its blend, so collectors track them by vintage. The 2023 release is a 5 7/8 x 52 wearing an Ecuador Sumatra-seed maduro wrapper over Dominican binder with Nicaraguan and Dominican Piloto filler, rolled at EP Carrillo's Dominican factory.

What it tastes like

This is a noticeably richer, darker take than the standard Four Kicks line. The maduro wrapper brings dark cocoa, espresso, and a sweet, earthy depth, layered with cedar and a firm black-pepper spice. It lands in the medium-full range — more substantial than the regular Four Kicks but still balanced and smooth, with the clean construction the brand is known for.

Who it's for

Mule Kick rewards experienced smokers who like a fuller, sweeter maduro profile and don't mind chasing a limited release. Save it for after a meal with an espresso or a pour of bourbon. If dark, sweet wrappers are your thing, our Maduro vs Connecticut explainer breaks down what that leaf does, and the cigar strength guide helps place a medium-full smoke like this.
