The Angel's Anvil is Crowned Heads' annual exclusive for the Tobacconists' Association of America (TAA), a group of top brick-and-mortar shops. The name stays the same each year but the blend changes, so collectors track them by vintage. The 2019 edition is a 6 1/8 x 50 toro wearing a dark Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper over Ecuador Sumatra binder and Nicaraguan filler, rolled at EP Carrillo's Tabacalera La Alianza in the Dominican Republic.

What it tastes like

The Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper gives this one a dark, sweet-and-spicy character. Expect dark chocolate, espresso, cedar, and black pepper over a sweet, earthy base — rich and layered, landing in the medium-full range. It's a polished, well-balanced smoke that rewards slow puffing, with the clean construction and even burn EP Carrillo is known for.

Who it's for

As a limited, shop-exclusive release, this is one for aficionados and collectors who enjoy hunting down small-batch cigars. It's an after-dinner smoke for espresso or bourbon. To understand what the dark Brazilian wrapper brings, our Maduro vs Connecticut guide is a useful read, and the cigar strength guide helps place a medium-full smoke.
