Ramón Allones cigars

Ramón Allones holds a rare distinction: founded in 1837 by Galician immigrant Ramón Allones, it is among the oldest continuously produced brands in the entire Habanos portfolio. Allones was a pioneer as much as a blender — he is widely credited as the first Cuban manufacturer to pack cigars in decorated lithographed boxes and to band individual cigars, innovations that became universal industry practice. He also popularised the elegant 8-9-8 box formation that remains in use today.

The brand passed through several owners in the decades after Allones' death and was moved in 1927 to the Partagás factory, where it has been made ever since. Following the nationalization of the Cuban cigar industry in 1960, the marca was retained for production under the state system that would become Habanos S.A., a mark of its enduring commercial and cultural importance.

What distinguishes Ramón Allones from other Habanos brands is its house character: fuller, earthier, and bolder than many of its stablemates, with rich Vuelta Abajo leaf delivering leather, cedar, and dark spice at medium-to-full strength. The Specially Selected, a classic Robusto, has long been its most recognised vitola — one of the benchmarks against which other robustos are measured. The Club Allones, a newer addition, has strengthened the line's presence in regular production.
