Ramón Allones Belicosos Edición Regional Reino Unido 2005

Before the official Edición Regional program was formally established, the UK's Habanos distributor Hunters & Frankau worked with Habanos S.A. to create the Ramón Allones Belicosos — a 5½ × 52 Campanas released in 2005. It predates the formal ER labeling and secondary-band system, which makes it something of a historical curiosity: effectively one of the first regional exclusives, just ahead of the program's official launch.

What it tastes like

The Campanas vitola gives this cigar a wide ring gauge ideal for maximizing smoke volume and flavor intensity. The Ramón Allones full-strength character is assertive from the first third: dark earth, aged leather, and cracked black pepper dominate the opening. Cedar and a warm espresso note develop in the middle, and the final third delivers a satisfying, concentrated finish with lingering leather and earth. The construction in the original Partagás Factory (La Corona at time of rolling) ensured excellent draw and even burn.

Why it matters historically

The Belicosos UK 2005 demonstrates that demand for Ramón Allones in larger, more exotic vitolas preceded the formal regional program. It was sold in boxes of 25 without the secondary regional band — making it visually distinct from later ER releases. Original stock, now over two decades old, has aged significantly; surviving cigars show the softened spice and integrated leather of well-kept Cuban tobacco.

This is a full-strength smoke for experienced palates. Pair with a peaty Scotch or aged rum, and pace yourself — the 52 ring gauge and 5½ inches call for a full hour.
