When the German Habanos distributor commissioned a revival of the historic Ramón Allones 898 for 2014, the cigar world paid attention. The original 898 Cabinet Selection had been discontinued around 2002, and its absence had been felt by Lonsdale fans and Ramón Allones collectors alike. The Edición Regional Alemania 2014 brought the vitola back in its classic format: 6.7 inches at 43 ring gauge, limited to just 2,000 numbered boxes of 25.

What it tastes like

The Alemania 2014 carries the same elegant Lonsdale profile that made the original 898 a legend: a cool, focused draw producing concentrated smoke from the narrower ring gauge. Dark earth and cedar anchor the first third, followed by roasted coffee and a warm woody spice that builds steadily through the middle. Aged leather integrates throughout, and the final third delivers a long, dry finish with satisfying depth. This is not a cigar for the impatient — its complexity unfolds gradually and rewards a slow pace.

Regional Edition status

The secondary red-and-silver "Edición Regional Alemania" band distinguishes this revival from the original discontinued production. Boxes were numbered; the 2,000-box release was modest even by regional edition standards. Now over a decade old, well-stored examples will have softened the spice and deepened the coffee and leather characteristics significantly.
