Camacho cigars

Camacho is Honduras's most uncompromising premium brand, rooted in authentic Corojo tobacco and reshaped by Davidoff's 2013 'Live Loud' rebrand into one of the boldest identities in the cigar market.

Founded
1961
Origin
Honduras
Founder
Simon Camacho
Based in
Basel, Switzerland

The Camacho name traces back to 1961, when Cuban exile Simon Camacho opened Miami's first cigar factory. After his death in 1990, the brand passed through several hands before the Eiroa family of Honduras — veteran tobacco growers with deep roots in the Jamastran Valley — acquired the rights in 1995 and transferred production to Danlí, Honduras. It was the Eiroas who began working with authentic Cuban Corojo seed tobacco in Honduran soil, and the Camacho Corojo that emerged from their Rancho Jamastran farm became one of the defining full-bodied cigars of the early 2000s.

In 2008 Oettinger Davidoff Group acquired Camacho and the Rancho Jamastran factory, though the Eiroa family retained ownership of their tobacco fields. The pairing was strategic: Davidoff wanted a bold counterpart to its own refined, lighter-profile lines, and Camacho's reputation for unfiltered power fit that brief precisely.

The 2013 Rebrand

The real transformation came in 2013 when Davidoff overhauled the entire Camacho brand under the tagline "Live Loud." New packaging, new vitola lineups, and a tighter portfolio replaced the previous sprawl. The Camacho Corojo remained the soul of the brand, built around authentic Corojo leaf grown in the Jamastran Valley. The Triple Maduro joined as a flagship for smokers who want maximum fermentation across the wrapper, binder, and filler simultaneously. The American Barrel-Aged line — using tobacco conditioned in bourbon barrels — demonstrated Davidoff's willingness to push Camacho into territory no parent company would have risked with a house brand.
