The Toro is the 6 x 54 vitola in Reserva 1898, Plasencia's tribute to the year the family first planted tobacco. It wraps five-year-aged Honduran and Nicaraguan long-fillers in a Nicaraguan Corojo leaf from the Jalapa Valley — a heritage blend designed for smoothness and aromatic depth, given room to develop in the larger Toro format.

What it tastes like

Ultra-smooth for its body. The Toro opens with cedar and leather, builds through roasted nuts and a warm toasty core, and finishes on coffee with a lingering, even draw. It sits at medium-to-full: substantial and flavorful, but the long-aged tobacco keeps it rounded and refined rather than sharp. The extra length burns cool over a relaxed ninety minutes.

Who it's for

A great everyday-to-special cigar for experienced smokers who want flavor and body without harshness. Coffee, rum or bourbon all complement it. With Honduran and Nicaraguan leaf in the blend it spans two traditions — read Cuban vs Nicaraguan cigars for one side of it. Don't have a humidor yet? See how to store cigars without a humidor.
