Flavor profile

Earthy · Roast

Reserva 1898 marks the year the Plasencia family began growing tobacco, and the cigar is built as a tribute to that heritage. It pairs a Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper from the Jalapa Valley with five-year-aged Honduran and Nicaraguan long-fillers. The Robusto is its 4.75 x 52 size — a focused, hour-long expression of the blend.

What it tastes like

For its strength this is a remarkably smooth, polished cigar. Expect deep cedar and leather up front, roasted nuts and a toasty core through the middle, and coffee on a long, even finish. It's medium-to-full — there's body and backbone, but the aged tobacco keeps everything rounded and refined rather than aggressive. Construction and burn are dialed in, as you'd expect from Plasencia.

Who it's for

A versatile pick for experienced smokers who want richness without harshness; confident newer smokers can enjoy it too if they take it slow. Coffee, aged rum or bourbon all pair well. The blend leans on both Honduran and Nicaraguan leaf — see Cuban vs Nicaraguan cigars for one half of that, and the cigar strength guide for "medium-full." Rate it and track it in the Casa DNC app, or size up with the Toro.
