Flavor profile

Roast · Balanced · Earthy · Fruity · Spice

The Double Ligero line is La Flor Dominicana at its most unapologetic. The name is literal: founder Litto Gomez packs in roughly twice the ligero leaf normally allowed, and ligero is the strongest, most nicotine-rich part of the tobacco plant. The DL-700 is the big 6.5 x 60 expression, finished in a dark, oily Ecuador Sumatra wrapper over Dominican binder and filler.

What it tastes like

This is a full-bodied, full-strength smoke, full stop. Expect espresso, mesquite, and leather up front, with a beefy core of toast and earth and a surprising undercurrent of raisin and licorice sweetness. Black pepper runs through the retrohale. It earned 94 points from Cigar Aficionado, but ratings are almost beside the point here — this is about intensity.

Who it's for

Eat a full meal first. The DL-700 is for experienced smokers who actively want a nicotine punch, and it will flatten a beginner. If you love it but want it in a no-cut figurado, try the La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Chisel. New to potent smokes in general? Read the cigar strength guide before you commit to this one.
