Flavor profile

Earthy · Spice · Fruity · Sweet

The Bellas Artes is AJ Fernandez showing off. The wrapper is a proprietary leaf called "Rojita" — a three-way hybrid of 50% US Connecticut seed, 25% Corojo '99, and 25% Havana 2000, all grown in Nicaragua. No other blend in the AJ Fernandez portfolio uses this wrapper, and it changes the character of the cigar dramatically.

What it tastes like

The Rojita wrapper is visually striking: smooth, nearly seamless, with a soft box-press and a medium-brown glow. It delivers cedar and baking spice up front, developing into dark fruit and leather through the middle. The Havana '92 binder from Quilalí — one of Nicaragua's oldest tobacco-growing regions — adds a floral earthiness that complements the wrapper beautifully. Honduran Jamastran and Brazilian Marta Norte filler round out a complex, evolving blend. At 5 by 52, it burns for about 45 minutes.

Who it's for

This is the cigar for the enthusiast who has tried most of AJ Fernandez's portfolio and wants to understand what proprietary blending can produce. The hybrid wrapper is genuinely unusual. Pair with a dark espresso or cognac that can keep up with the complexity.

The Bellas Artes represents AJ Fernandez's most experimental side. Compare the Nicaraguan construction to Cuban standards in the Cuban vs Nicaraguan cigars guide. Calibrate your expectations with the cigar strength guide, and keep session notes in the Casa DNC app.
