La Riqueza — Spanish for "the wealth" — arrived in 2008 as Pete Johnson's Connecticut Broadleaf project, a rare dark-wrapper direction for a brand built on Habano. The No. 1 is a box-pressed 6 1/2 x 42 Lonsdale, an elegant slim format that lets the rich maduro leaf shine.

What it tastes like

This is a darker, more decadent Tatuaje, built on an oily Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper over a Nicaraguan double binder and Nicaraguan filler. Expect cocoa and leather up front, espresso and earth in the middle, and a subtle dark-fruit sweetness that rounds it out. The box press and slim ring gauge focus the smoke, landing it at a flavorful medium-full. Made at the My Father factory in Estelí, construction is excellent — a crisp burn and a smooth draw.

Who it's for

The rich, sweet maduro profile suits experienced smokers who want depth and a touch of sweetness without full-on power. It's a natural after-dinner choice with espresso, an aged rum, or bourbon. Since the Broadleaf wrapper defines the cigar, our Maduro vs Connecticut guide is the perfect companion, and as a Nicaraguan-cored smoke it fits our Cuban vs Nicaraguan comparison too.
