Flavor profile

Sweet · Earthy · Spice

The Cojonu 2006 is the second installment of Tatuaje's "ballsy" Cojonu series, a stout 5 1/2 x 52 Belicoso with a tapered head. It keeps the line's bold spirit but in a shorter, thicker, figurado package than the 2003 Toro that preceded it.

What it tastes like

Under an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with an all-Nicaraguan core, this lands at a rich medium-full. The pointed head concentrates the smoke, leading with cocoa and leather, then layering cedar, earth, and a pointed black-pepper spice. It's powerful and flavorful but stays balanced, with a creamy finish. The box-pressed belicoso shape and big ring gauge keep the burn slow and the draw satisfying. As with the whole line, García-family construction is excellent.

Who it's for

The fuller body and figurado shape make this best for experienced smokers comfortable cutting a tapered head — see our how to cut a cigar guide if you're new to belicosos. Enjoy it after a meal with espresso, bourbon, or an aged rum. If you like the series, the original Cojonu 2003 is the natural comparison, and our Cuban vs Nicaraguan piece frames the blend.
