RoMa Craft CroMagnon EMH

RoMa Craft Tobac launched in 2011 as the passion project of Skip Martin (formerly of CAO) and Michael Rosales. Their debut line, CroMagnon, was a bold statement: a Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper married to a Cameroon binder and three Nicaraguan fillers from Estelí, Condega, and a small farm near the Honduran border. The EMH vitola — named for Homo sapiens Early Modern Humans — is the original workhorse of the line, a thick 5 × 56 Robusto Extra that showcases every layer of the blend.

What it tastes like

The Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper is dark, oily, and slightly toothy, setting up a smoke that opens with a burst of black pepper and cocoa. As the EMH settles in, the Cameroon binder adds a subtle sweetness that balances the Nicaraguan ligero's earthiness. The middle third shifts toward espresso, dark chocolate, and leather — rich and layered without tipping into harshness.
