Alma del Fuego ("soul of fire") is the boldest of Plasencia's branded lines. It's a Nicaraguan puro built largely from tobacco grown on the volcanic island of Ometepe — roughly three-quarters of the blend — with the Ometepe leaf aged about seven years before rolling. The Candente is its 5 x 50 Robusto.

What it tastes like

This is a full-bodied, high-energy smoke. Expect black pepper and espresso up front, a deep earthy core, and cedar and dark chocolate underneath, with the mineral-rich Ometepe tobacco giving it a distinctive intensity. It's powerful but well-blended, so the strength feels purposeful rather than rough. The Robusto format keeps it to a focused hour.

Who it's for

Built for aficionados who chase strength and don't mind a nicotine kick — eat first and don't rush it. Newer smokers should ease up to this one. As a single-origin Nicaraguan it's about as bold as the country's tobacco gets; compare the style to Havana in Cuban vs Nicaraguan cigars, and see the cigar strength guide for what "full" really means. Rate it and log how it hits in the Casa DNC app, or step up in size with the Concepción.
