The original My Father line is the cigar José "Pepín" García and his son Jaime made to honor their family name, and the No. 1 is the robusto-sized anchor of the lineup. At 5.2 x 52 it's a touch longer than a classic robusto, wrapped in a silky reddish-brown Ecuadorian Habano Rosado leaf over all-Nicaraguan binder and filler.

What it tastes like

Expect that signature García profile: lots of polished cedar, a creamy backbone, and a measured peppery spice on the retrohale, with cocoa and toasted nuts filling in the middle. It sits at medium-full — there's real body and a peppery kick up front that settles down, but it never turns harsh. Construction is excellent, with a slow even burn and a firm, easy draw.

Who it's for

It's a great everyday premium for someone who's moved past mild Connecticuts and wants something with more backbone. Because the whole line is a showcase of Estelí tobacco, it's a perfect reference for our Cuban vs Nicaraguan comparison. New to gauging how bold a cigar will be?
