The Cuatro Cinco ("four-five") was created to mark Joya de Nicaragua's 45th anniversary, and it's a special cigar: the filler includes five-year-old Nicaraguan ligero aged in oak barrels that previously held rum. The Reserva Especial Toro (6.25 x 50) is lightly box-pressed and elegantly made.

What it tastes like

A rich but refined profile of wood and cedar sweetness, black pepper, leather, and a touch of baking spice like nutmeg, all wrapped up in a notably velvety finish, a nod to that rum-barrel aging. It's a Medium-Full smoke with real complexity rather than just power.

Who it's for

Great for smokers who want something a little special and don't mind a longer, contemplative session. The balance of strength and nuance makes it rewarding for experienced palates. If you're newer to fuller cigars, the cigar strength guide is a helpful primer.

Interestingly, this blend uses a Dominican binder under a Nicaraguan wrapper, a fun wrinkle if you enjoy the Cuban vs Nicaraguan cigars conversation. Lean into the barrel character by pairing it with an aged rum, or go with coffee. Log it and rate it in the Casa DNC app at casadnc.com so you can compare it to the darker Cuatro Cinco Doble Maduro.
