The Antaño Gran Reserva is the dressed-up, aged version of Joya's famous Antaño. Fillers are aged up to five years, with a full-bodied Estelí ligero at the core and a Corojo Oscuro wrapper from Jalapa. The Belicoso (6 x 54) is a beautifully made figurado in the line.

What it tastes like

It carries the Antaño DNA, cocoa, black pepper, oak, leather, and coffee, but the extra aging sands off the rough edges, giving it a rounder, more polished feel. The tapered belicoso head concentrates the smoke for a focused draw. Strength lands at Medium-Full, a notch more approachable than the straight Antaño 1970.

Who it's for

A smart pick if you like Nicaraguan power but want a smoother, more refined version with some bottle age built in. Experienced smokers will appreciate the balance; newer smokers curious about aging can start with the cigar strength guide.

As a full-flavored Nicaraguan blend with a dark wrapper, it's a good talking point for both Cuban vs Nicaraguan cigars and maduro vs Connecticut. Coffee or aged rum make excellent partners. Track the aging and your tasting notes in the Casa DNC app at casadnc.com.
