Flavor profile

Spice · Roast · Earthy · Sweet

The Consul is the compact end of the Antaño 1970 line: a 4.5 x 52 robusto that delivers most of the line's classic intensity in a shorter, faster smoke. Same all-Nicaraguan puro recipe, same dark and oily Habano Criollo wrapper from Jalapa.

What it tastes like

Spicy and rich from the light. You'll get pepper up front, then espresso, leather, oak, and a dark cocoa sweetness on the back end. The shorter length keeps things concentrated and lively rather than slow-building, landing it solidly in Medium-Full territory, a touch more approachable than the bigger Antaño vitolas.

Who it's for

A great pick when you want the Antaño flavor profile but only have 35 to 45 minutes. It's still a serious cigar, so seasoned smokers will get the most out of it. If you're newer to bold blends, our cigar strength guide is worth a look first.

The Antaño is a textbook example of full-flavored Nicaraguan tobacco, so it's a useful anchor in the Cuban vs Nicaraguan cigars comparison. Espresso or a dark porter both work beautifully alongside it. Track it and rate it in your humidor with the Casa DNC app at casadnc.com.
