The verdict
The Caldwell Lost and Found Instant Classic Habano Robusto is a richer, medium-to-full smoke from Caldwell's Lost and Found line. It's a Dominican Republic (New World) robusto wrapped in Habano Hybrid at 5 in × 50.
On the palate, expect dark fruit, earth, and cedar, leaning fruity. Plan on roughly 55 minutes from light to nub.
It pairs naturally with bourbon, craft beer, and black coffee. If you're newer to cigars, work up to this one rather than starting here.
Lost and Found is a project Robert Caldwell launched with Tony Bellato (La Barba Cigar) and designer Jaclyn Sears. The concept: source overstock, aged, or otherwise "lost" tobacco from various factories — often from companies that closed or surplus blends from existing producers — repackage it under the Lost and Found banner, and release it in limited quantities, often for charity.
The Instant Classic was a 2016 release limited to 10,000 cigars. The tobaccos had time to age before hitting shelves, which contributes to a smoothness that freshly rolled cigars rarely achieve immediately.
What it tastes like
The Habano hybrid wrapper (a blend of Habano and another variety, blended for complexity and a light draw) gives an earthy, dark fruit opening. The Indonesian binder adds structure; the all-Dominican filler delivers a consistent tobacco and cedar core. Mild pepper on the retrohale, with a clean, satisfying finish. Medium-to-full in body and strength.
Who it's for
Lost and Found releases are by nature limited and sporadic — if you find one, it's worth buying more than one. The Instant Classic is a great entry into the Lost and Found project: manageable strength, excellent construction, and the added dimension of aged tobacco. Context on the Dominican filler profile is in our regional tobacco guide. The Habano hybrid wrapper means this is not a typical Connecticut or Maduro — it sits between both.
