The Imperial is the toro of the Padrón 1964 Anniversary Series: a 6 x 54 box-pressed cigar that gives you a bit more size and smoking time than the famous Exclusivo robusto. Like the rest of the line, it's a Nicaraguan puro with every leaf aged four years.

What it tastes like

In maduro, the Imperial is a rich, satisfying smoke — dark chocolate and coffee out front, then leather, cedar, and a steady pepper note. The extra ring gauge gives it a cool, generous draw and lets the flavors develop in long, slow waves. It's medium-full: plenty of body and depth, but the hallmark Padrón balance keeps it smooth from light to nub.

Who it's for

It's aimed at experienced smokers who want a longer session than a robusto. If you love the blend but want a quicker smoke, the Exclusivo Maduro is the same tobacco in a 5.5 x 50 format. New to dark wrappers? Our maduro vs Connecticut guide explains why maduro tastes the way it does.

As one of Nicaragua's flagship cigars, it's a great example for the Cuban vs Nicaraguan comparison. Light it after dinner with an espresso, then log and rate it in the Casa DNC app.
