The Padrón 1964 Anniversary Diplomático in natural is the sun-grown version of the line's elegant 7 x 50 box-pressed churchill. Same four-year-aged Nicaraguan tobacco as the maduro, with a lighter wrapper that brings out a woodier, more classic profile.
What it tastes like
Cedar and coffee lead, with toasted almond, a little cream, and a clean pepper note threading through. The long churchill format lets the medium-full blend stretch out and reveal its subtleties over a relaxed hour. It's drier and more tobacco-forward than the cocoa-heavy maduro, but every bit as smooth and beautifully constructed — Padrón's burn and draw are reliably perfect.
