New WorldExperienced smokersMontecristo Platinum Toro
The dark, bolder non-Cuban Montecristo — a San Andrés Maduro-wrapped Dominican toro with rich cocoa, espresso and pepper.
Flavor profile
Sweet · Roast · Spice · Earthy
The Montecristo Platinum is the darker, bolder side of the non-Cuban range, made by Altadis in the Dominican Republic. This is the Toro, 6 inches by a 50 ring gauge, wrapped in a dark Mexican San Andrés leaf that signals it means business — this is stronger than most cigars wearing the Montecristo name.
What it tastes like
The San Andrés Maduro wrapper, over a Nicaraguan binder and a Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Peruvian filler, brings rich, dark flavors: cocoa, espresso, dark chocolate, a peppery edge, and earth. It's medium-to-full and noticeably more robust than the White or Classic, but still smooth and balanced rather than rough.
Who it's for
The Platinum suits a smoker who's comfortable with body and wants the Montecristo name with more punch. It's an excellent after-dinner cigar. Pair it with an espresso or a bourbon.
That dark Maduro wrapper drives much of the richness — see our Maduro vs Connecticut guide for how it stacks up against pale shade leaves. If you want a mellow Montecristo at the opposite end, the Montecristo White Toro is creamy and light. Track and rate your smoke in the Casa DNC app.
