New WorldExperiencedH. Upmann The Banker Annuity
A spicy non-Cuban H. Upmann from Altadis — an oily Ecuador Habano-wrapped toro with cedar, pepper and leather at a bold medium-full body.
The Banker nods to H. Upmann's founders, who ran a banking house before they turned to cigars. The Annuity, at 6 inches by a 52 ring gauge, is the line's toro, handmade in the Dominican Republic under a succulent, oily Ecuadorian Habano wrapper.
What it tastes like
The wrapper covers a Nicaraguan binder and a spicy long-filler blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos. The payoff is a medium-to-full smoke with cedar, black pepper, and earth up front and leather and cocoa filling in underneath. It's one of the bolder non-Cuban H. Upmanns, built for flavor and a bit of kick rather than mellow sipping.
Who it's for
A solid pick for experienced smokers who want spice and body in a full-hour toro. It pairs naturally with espresso or bourbon and rewards a deliberate pace. Beginners may find the pepper assertive early on.
This is the Dominican, Altadis H. Upmann, separate from the Cuban range. For the smoother Havana style, see the Magnum 50. To understand the body, check our cigar strength guide. Rate it and track your collection in the Casa DNC app.
