Highclere Castle Edwardian is one of the most unique backstories in premium cigars. Foundation's Nick Melillo partnered with George Herbert, the 8th Earl of Carnarvon and owner of Highclere Castle in Hampshire, England — the real-life setting for Downton Abbey — to create a cigar that evokes Edwardian-era elegance. The blend uses a silky Connecticut Shade wrapper, a Brazilian Mata Fina binder, and an exclusive Nicaraguan hybrid tobacco called Nicadan — a proprietary cross of Criollo and Corojo seed grown in Jalapa and on the island of Ometepe.
What it tastes like
Delicate but engaging. The Connecticut Shade wrapper delivers the expected cream and cedar, but the Mata Fina binder introduces a layer of pepper and leather that adds structure. Foundation describes the Nicadan filler as contributing notes of citrus and a warm, lingering essence "reminiscent of a crackling fireplace."
