Flavor profile

Sweet · Roast · Spice · Earthy

Few cigars have built anticipation the way the 601 La Bomba Warhead does. Released as a limited annual expression from La Zona, the Warhead series is Espinosa's theatrical showcase — each year a different vitola, all shaped like a bomb with a distinctive pigtail cap styled as a fuse. The original Warhead (6½ × 54) set the template: a Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler, box-pressed, and deliberately full-strength.

The Blend

USA Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper — dark, sweet, and fermented longer than most. Nicaraguan binder and long-filler tobaccos from Estelí, all box-pressed into the iconic figurado shape. Full-bodied and high-nicotine. The Broadleaf's natural sweetness provides a counterpoint to the Nicaraguan power underneath, creating a cigar that's intense but not one-dimensional.

What It Tastes Like

Molasses and dark chocolate arrive with the first draw — the Broadleaf doing what it does best. Espresso develops through the middle third, joined by an increasing black pepper presence that signals the Nicaraguan filler asserting itself. Cedar threads through the entire smoke. The finish is long, dark, and slightly sweet — the Broadleaf's signature exit. This is a cigar that finishes strong.

Who It's For

The La Bomba Warhead is for experienced aficionados who want drama with their smoke — visually distinctive, full in strength, and genuinely complex. The annual release format means vintages vary slightly by vitola, but the Broadleaf-over-Nicaraguan formula stays consistent. This is also a great exercise in understanding what Broadleaf maduro wrappers contribute to a powerful underlying blend. Smoke after a meal. Pair with bourbon or dark rum — nothing light holds up.
