La Historia tells the Perez-Carrillo family story, and the E-III is its flagship toro, named for Ernesto Perez-Carrillo III. At 6 7/8 x 54 it is a substantial cigar dressed in a dark, oily Mexican San Andres maduro wrapper.
What it tastes like
The blend pairs that San Andres maduro wrapper with an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and a filler of Nicaraguan and Dominican leaf. The result is classically maduro: cocoa and dark chocolate up front, espresso and leather in the middle, and a firm black-pepper backbone that keeps it from turning sweet. The body sits in the medium-full range, smooth and well-aged, with a long finish. La Historia earned strong critical scores on release and remains a benchmark San Andres blend.
