The first non-Cuban Cohiba rolled in Honduras — a dark, well-aged Nicaraguan maduro blend that's among the richest in the Cohiba lineup.
Flavor profile
Sweet · Roast · Earthy · Fruity · Spice
Cohiba Royale, introduced around 2020, holds a couple of firsts: it was the first non-Cuban Cohiba handmade in Honduras, and it's often called one of the richest cigars General Cigar has put under the Cohiba name. The leaves are aged five to six years, and the dark, chocolatey Nicaraguan Jalapa maduro wrapper sets the tone.
What it tastes like
This is a medium-to-full, dark-and-rich smoke: cocoa and espresso lead, backed by cedar, dark fruit, and a firm pepper spine. The long aging shows up as a smooth, rounded richness rather than rough edges. It's one of the deeper, more indulgent cigars in the non-Cuban Cohiba range — closer to a classic maduro than to the brand's milder offerings.
Who it's for
A treat for experienced smokers who want a bold, well-aged maduro. Pair it with an espresso, a bourbon, or a port. New to dark wrappers and how they compare to pale Connecticut leaf? See our Maduro vs Connecticut guide.
