Cohiba · Línea 1492
CubanExperienced smokersCohiba Medio Siglo
Cohiba's petit robusto — a short, fat 52-gauge smoke that delivers full Siglo VI-style flavor in about 30 minutes.
Released in 2016 for Cohiba's 50th anniversary, the Medio Siglo ("half century") was the first new vitola added to the Línea 1492 since the Siglo VI in 2002. It's a clever idea: take the four-inch length of the little Siglo I and the chunky 52 ring gauge of the Siglo VI, and you get a petit robusto that smokes big but finishes fast.
What it tastes like
The wide ring gauge means lots of cool smoke and a concentrated hit of Cohiba flavor in a short cigar. Expect cedar, cocoa, and coffee, the brand's signature honeyed sweetness, and a touch of spice — medium-to-full and rich, much like a compressed Siglo VI. A lot of cigar for about half an hour.
Who it's for
Perfect for experienced smokers who love the Siglo VI profile but don't always have an hour to spare. Pair it with an espresso, an aged rum, or a coffee. Curious how Cuba's refined style compares to Nicaragua's? See Cuban vs Nicaraguan.
As with every Cohiba, buy from a trusted source to avoid counterfeits, and store at proper humidity. Log the standouts in your humidor with the Casa DNC app.
