Alec Bradley cigars

Alan Rubin founded Alec Bradley Cigar Distributors in 1996, naming the brand after his two sons. Rubin came from outside the tobacco industry and spent years sourcing leaf and production partners before landing on Honduras as the brand's primary production home, working with Raices Cubanas and later collaborating with the Plasencia family in both Honduras and Nicaragua. The approach — independent distribution, selective blending, no factory ownership — gave Rubin flexibility to source differently for each line.

The pivotal moment came in 2011 when the Prensado Churchill was named Cigar Aficionado's #1 Cigar of the Year with a 96 rating, the highest honor in the premium segment. Prensado, a Honduran puro blended with Nicaraguan and Honduran tobaccos under a Honduran Corojo wrapper, put a boutique Fort Lauderdale operation on equal footing with category giants. The recognition drove sustained demand and gave Alec Bradley sustained credibility in the premium tier.

Core Portfolio

The Tempus line predates the Prensado breakthrough and remains a cornerstone offering — medium-to-full in body, Honduran-forward in character, and built for consistency across its vitola range. Black Market delivers the brand's most accessible full-bodied option at a lower price point, with a broad leaf wrapper that adds depth and sweetness. The Coyol, blended with tobaccos from Costa Rica's Coyol region, offered the brand a novel geographic story when it launched.

In February 2023, Alec Bradley was acquired by Scandinavian Tobacco Group, though the brand continues to operate from Fort Lauderdale under its existing identity.
