Flavor profile

The Libertador is a La Casa del Habano exclusive and one of the more luxurious Bolívars you can buy. It comes in the Sublimes vitola — a substantial 54 ring gauge at six and a half inches — and is sold in semi-boîte nature boxes of ten, which tells you Habanos intended it as a premium, sit-down smoke.

What it tastes like

The extra girth gives this one a cooler, rounder draw than the slimmer Bolívars. It runs medium-full, with leather and cedar leading into coffee, cocoa and an earthy depth. There's plenty of smoke and a long, savory finish, and the larger format makes it feel a touch more refined and less ferocious than something like the Belicosos Finos.

Who it's for

This is an aficionado's cigar — a relaxed 90-minute-plus smoke for an evening with nothing to rush to. Because it's an LCDH exclusive, availability is limited and counterfeits exist, so buy from a reputable La Casa del Habano. New to wide ring gauges? The how to cut a cigar guide helps you open that big cap cleanly.

Pair it with a cognac, an aged rum, or espresso. If you appreciate Cuban depth, compare it against the New World in Cuban vs Nicaraguan, and keep a record of your boxes in the Casa DNC app.
