Bolivar Cofradia
New WorldExperiencedBolivar Cofradia Robusto
The non-Cuban Bolivar by General Cigar — a full-flavored Honduran robusto of leather, earth and oak with an Ecuador Sumatra wrapper.
This is the other Bolivar. Outside Cuba, the Bolivar trademark belongs to General Cigar, and the Cofradia is their full-flavored Honduran take on the name — a completely different cigar from the Cuban Bolívar, with its own blend and its own character. It was created by the late master blender Estélo Padrón and is hand-rolled at the HATSA factory in Danlí, Honduras.
What it tastes like
The blend pairs an Ecuador-grown Sumatra-seed wrapper and a Connecticut Broadleaf binder over Honduran and Nicaraguan long fillers. The result is bold and full-flavored: leather, earth and oak with a peppery kick and a touch of sweetness underneath. The robusto's 54 ring gauge gives a generous, smoky draw over roughly an hour.
Who it's for
A strong, well-priced everyday smoke for experienced palates who want New World power without a premium price tag. If you've only had the Cuban Bolívar, this is a chance to taste how different the two trademarks really are — see Cuban vs Nicaraguan for why blends like this hit differently.
Pair it with a bourbon, a coffee, or a stout. Keep notes on yours in the Casa DNC app so you don't confuse it with its Cuban namesake. Want the same blend with more time on it? Try the Cofradia Toro.
