The Aging Room Pelo de Oro Scherzo is arguably the most historically significant cigar in the Boutique Blends portfolio. Pelo de Oro — Spanish for "hair of gold" — is an heirloom Cuban-heritage tobacco variety that was nearly wiped out by blue mold in Nicaragua, making it extraordinarily difficult to source. Rafael Nodal partnered with AJ Fernandez, who cultivated this rare strain on his Nicaraguan farms, to produce a limited-production Nicaraguan puro that carries genuine rarity alongside genuine quality.

The 5 1/2 × 55 Scherzo is the only vitola in the Pelo de Oro line. It's finished with a Cuban-style triple cap and pigtail head — a rolling tradition that signals the blend's Cuban heritage and demands a V-cut or punch for the best draw. The Cuban-seed Nicaraguan wrapper is silky and aromatic; the Pelo de Oro filler contributes a unique sweet creaminess and floral nuance rarely found in modern Nicaraguan puros.
