The Partagás Lusitanias is one of the most revered cigars in the Havana catalog — a Double Corona (Prominentes) at 49 ring gauge by 7.6 inches, and for a lot of seasoned smokers the benchmark by which all other double coronas are judged.
What it tastes like
This is a long, stately smoke rolled with long-filler from Cuba's Vuelta Abajo region. Expect a deep, classic Partagás profile: earth, leather and espresso, woven with cedar and a steady black-pepper spice. The big format burns slowly and evenly, and the flavors build and shift over the course of the cigar — it's medium-full, rich without being aggressive.
Who it's for
Set aside the time: a Lusitanias takes a good two-and-a-half to three hours to enjoy properly, so it's a weekend or special-occasion cigar for someone who already loves Cubans. Pair it with an aged rum or a cognac and let it unfold. If you want the same bold Partagás character in less time, try the Serie D No. 4; for the broader picture, see Cuban vs Nicaraguan.
