The Wavell Maduro takes the beloved Wavell robusto format and dresses it in a fermented Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper that darkens the profile into territory many smokers find more satisfying than the natural version. At 5 × 50, this is still the same approachable robusto shape, but the maduro wrapper introduces a layer of cocoa sweetness and cream that softens the spice and shifts the overall body to a comfortable medium.

The Connecticut Broadleaf is nearly chocolate brown, toothy, and glistens with a light oil. It burns slowly and evenly, revealing flavors of cocoa and coffee in the first third, cedar and sweet earth through the mid-section, and a light, creamy finish that makes it one of the more easygoing maduro smokes in this price tier. There is very little harshness — the Nicaraguan binder and Dominican-Nicaraguan filler blend keeps the structure clean while the wrapper does the flavor heavy lifting.

Compared to the Ecuador Sumatra-wrapped natural Wavell, the maduro version is softer in body but richer in sweetness — a trade-off the maduro vs. Connecticut comparison explains well. If you are new to maduro wrappers, this is one of the best entry points in the medium-body category; our cigar strength guide can help you decide where it fits in your rotation.
