Hoyo de Monterrey · Excalibur 1066
New WorldExperiencedHoyo de Monterrey Excalibur Dark Knight
The dark, full-bodied Maduro Excalibur — a 5.75 x 54 Honduran toro under an oily Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, rich with cocoa and coffee.
The Excalibur 1066 Dark Knight is the bold, brooding member of the Honduran Excalibur family. It takes the 1066 toro shape (5.75 x 54) and wraps it in a dark, oily Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro leaf, turning the line's usual smoothness into something deeper and considerably stronger.
What it tastes like
This is a full-bodied Maduro with a sweet-and-spicy core: toasty coffee and dark baking chocolate up front, then cedar, leather, and pepper, with a sweet dark-cherry note surfacing as it burns. It's rich, chewy, and layered — a maduro lover's cigar — over a smoke of around an hour.
Who it's for
Built for experienced smokers who want power and sweetness from a dark wrapper. This is the non-Cuban Hoyo, distinct from the Cuban brand. For the milder, natural-wrapped version of the same shape, see the Excalibur 1066, and the Maduro vs Connecticut comparison explains why the Broadleaf wrapper changes the experience so much.
Maduros smoke best with some rest, so keep them humidified and log the ones you love in the Casa DNC app.
