Laranja means "orange" in Portuguese, and that name is no accident — the Espinosa Laranja Reserva was built around a unique Brazilian Laranja seed wrapper that lends a distinctive citrus character you simply don't find in most Nicaraguan blends. Erik Espinosa introduced the line in 2014, and it quickly became a benchmark for adventurous construction.
The Blend
The Toro (6 × 52) wraps a Brazilian Laranja leaf around Nicaraguan binder and long-filler tobaccos, all handmade at Espinosa's own La Zona factory in Estelí. The draw is open and easy, with a burn line that proves what proper packing looks like. Medium-full in body — there's power here, but it's measured and refined.
What It Tastes Like
The first third opens with that signature orange peel and cedar note that sets Laranja apart. Through the middle, the blend shifts toward warm baking spice and creaminess, the citrus fading to background accent. The final third deepens into earth and wood, still smooth and controlled. This is a complex cigar that rewards attention.
Who It's For
The Laranja Reserva Toro is built for experienced smokers ready to explore beyond the conventional Nicaraguan profile. The Brazilian wrapper makes it a natural conversation piece — if you've ever wondered how Nicaraguan tobacco compares to Cuban-grown leaf, this cigar gives you an answer with a twist. Pair with a peaty Scotch or aged rum to play up the spice, or a dark roast coffee to deepen the earthiness.
