Yamasá is one of Davidoff's most ambitious projects: a cigar grown around tobacco from the long-dormant Yamasá region of the Dominican Republic, a notoriously difficult terroir the brand spent years coaxing into shape. The Toro, at 6 by 54, is the size where this wild, earthy blend really shows off.

What it tastes like

This is a different animal from Davidoff's polished Connecticut classics. The Yamasá wrapper and binder are paired with aged Nicaraguan long-filler from Condega and Estelí plus Dominican Piloto and Mejorado, and the result is a medium-bodied smoke with coffee, pepper, cedar, dark cocoa, and a deep earthy core. It often opens with peppery spice before transitioning to richer, sweeter espresso and cocoa notes in the final third.

Who it's for

This one rewards experienced smokers who want complexity and a rustic, earthy edge rather than smooth and mellow. It's a thinking-person's Davidoff. Pair it with an espresso or a bourbon and give it your full attention.

If you like the bolder Davidoffs, the Davidoff Millennium Blend Toro is a fuller cousin, and the Davidoff Escurio Gran Toro is another adventurous blend from the brand. For where this sits on the spectrum, see our cigar strength guide, then log it in the Casa DNC app.
