CubanEverydayHoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo de San Juan
The Le Hoyo series goes thick — a 5.9 x 54 Geniales using San Juan y Martínez tobacco, pairing a modern ring gauge with classic Hoyo smoothness.
Released at the 2014 Habanos Festival, Le Hoyo de San Juan brought a heavy ring gauge to a line historically known for slim formats. At 5.9 x 54 it's a Geniales, and it's a nod to the brand's roots — the blend leans on Seco and Ligero leaves from San Juan y Martínez, where Hoyo de Monterrey was founded in 1865.
What it tastes like
Despite the modern girth, it keeps the Le Hoyo signature: light-to-medium, smooth, and aromatic. Expect creamy cedar, coffee, a touch of hay, and gentle floral and spice notes, all delivered cool thanks to the wide ring gauge. It's an easygoing, elegant smoke of about 75 minutes.
Who it's for
A great choice if you like the thicker formats that dominate today but want Cuba's softer, more refined side. It works well for everyday smoking and for newcomers stepping up in ring gauge. The cigar strength guide explains why a big cigar can still smoke mild.
